Obituary:
George V. Madden, age 89, of Powell died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Born in Columbus, he was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School. He served four years in the United States Army during WWII. George graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Labor Economics. He retired from the State of Ohio, in Personnel after 35 years of service. George is preceded in death by his son Philip. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; children: Colleen (Harry) Byers, of Sellersberg, IN and George (Cathy) Madden, of Upper Arlington; grandchildren: Matthew Decker, of Carson City, NV; Jeffrey (Anna) Decker, of White Salmon, WA; Philip (Joanna) Madden, of Columbus; Christopher Madden, of Phoenix; and 5 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Thursday at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME at POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio 43065 (614)-792-1471 where funeral service will be held 10:00a.m. FRIDAY, February 5, 2010. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery will follow the service.
